Westende consists of two blocks of self-contained flats, 27 in all, in pleasant well maintained gardens, located in Peach Street, Wokingham, Berkshire. They are close to the shops and only a short walk from other facilities. The Almshouses are for the elderly who are unable to afford to buy or rent in Wokingham. A Monthly Maintenance Charge (MMC) is payable. The MMC covers the cost of the accommodation and includes all heating and hot water charges. The MMC rate is below the Local Housing allowance level for the Borough. Westende is fortunate to be home to our Westende Manager, Lynda Rowe. Lynda has been at Westende for nearly 25 years and provides pastoral support to the residents along with looking after the building. We are very proud of the community ethos we have at Westende. We are also connected to ForestCare which provides our residents and their families with reassurance someone is always available for support.

Applications will be considered by the trustees only when there are vacancies on the basis of the power vested in the charity to provide accommodation for persons in need who live in Wokingham Borough (or whose immediate family lives in the same area). The acceptance of an application is entirely at the trustees’ discretion.
