The Household Support Fund (HSF) is a government programme designed to provide financial help to households experiencing hardship. Funded by central government and delivered by local authorities across England, the HSF has been in place since October 2021. It has been extended several times on a short term basis, with the latest extension announced on 2 September 2024, ensuring support continues until at least the end of March 2025. The fund is particularly aimed at supporting households with children, disabled people, and those living with long term health conditions.
The seventh round of the Household Support Fund opened on 22 September 2025 and will run until March 2026.
Please be aware that the eligibility criteria have changed. This means that some people who received HSF support previously may not qualify in this round.
If you are eligible, you will be contacted directly by Citizens Advice Wokingham, Age UK Berkshire, or First Days Children's Charity. They will carry out a full assessment to understand your needs.
